    Wave/Wake Science

Dialing in the SV211 and we've had some great sessions, but on some, there is no wave. So ran trials today, and here's what I found:

    1. Best to have an evenly weighted boat, and level (side to side) on plane. Bow, mid and rear ballast. - this is standard stuff.
    2. Account for prop rotation - the SV211 lifts the passenger side and wake shaper (if goofy). So I have to list the boat by a few inches stationary and it will lift considerably to level out at 11mph. The prop lift is significant as the driveline is working pretty hard to maintain that speed on ballast.
    3. Wake shaper must be submerged 2-3 inches. and perpendicular on plane, for good grip. If I'm a bit careless here, it's done for.

Far more sensitive than I would have ever thought. We were able to work around all of the above with say 4 ppl on board, but with just a driver/extra ballast I ran into issues due to the prop lift. I suppose a "surf prop" would have less pitch and as a result lift less.

What are you running for speed? How much ballast? I run 11.2 with about 2K lbs in the rear, stock belly tank, and about 200 lbs in the bow.

For ballast today I had approx 600# front, 600# belly, 200# under passenger side, 300# on open floor, 450# each side rear
H3X (I extended it) right along the lowest ledge on the hull-side.

Just a 150lb driver this morning I had good push, but he was in a slow turn one way or the other most of the time, so fell off twice

What is your speed, looks a little fast but could just be the video distorting things. Do you have perfect pass/ZO etc? Small speed adjustments can make a big difference so driving without speed control can make it very tough to make a good consistent wave.

What wake shaper are you using? Are you placing it so it's 2-3" under the water at rest or do you set it so it's that way once you are on plane since the sterns squats down at surf speeds? Where is your hyrdogate set? All the way back makes a better wave at least in 210s, 220s and 230s.

Perfect pass latest GPS- correct speed is probably on high side 11.5 but I like going quicker, faster still if I could.
          Will try slower speeds. .
The hydrogate on the 211 is small, but it's raised up bn board mode.
(Probably going to mod it like I did on our Ski 200, where I machined it to drop lower in slalom mode).

I have a swell H3X that I extended a bit and run as low as possible on the hull. Also putting it back at the transom as far a I can,

PS: All ballast came out today and we slalom'd this boat. I went at 35 off, 34 mph had a great set.

Got a really nice wave this past weekend after new parts arrived.
New ACME 645 Prop which is lower pitch. Super sweet Old 381 prop was a smidgen bent too
            Fatsac 750lb rear locker bag

So we had 1x 750 in the starboard rear, I had 2x400s, on the (port) walkway side. One bag was actually on the walkway.
            Center locker about 450lb
Bow bag at about 450 lb
            Total ballast 2400lb
4 people at sat 600 lbs
And the H3X surfgate as low as I could mount it, about 12" from transom.
