Still waiting on the upholstery to be installed.....

I did get the bimini top installed today though. Still needs a little adjustment (I was racing a thunderstorm), but I am pretty happy with it.

Got the engine cover base and the observer's seat base back from gelcoat on Friday, and I installed the SeaDek on those pieces today.

This is the best example of seadeck done right... Gotta feel good to be putting this thing back together after all the work put into the restoration process. Hard to tell from pics but did you ever figure out how to recover the dash pod?

The dash is next-to-impossible to recover. I did get a few quotes locally, and they were all over $1,000 due to the complexity of the dash. I'm just not willing to pay that much.

The dash is down at Nautique right now. They are building some custom parts for it (I'll show you all soon). Maybe they'll surprise me and recover it (I doubt it though).

I went ahead and had SeaDek do a template of the top of the dash, and if nothing else, I will put black SeaDek on top of the dash, and I think that will look pretty good.

So close to being finished! All SeaDek is applied except for the final piece (top of glove box).

The first piece of Roswell Marine Audio gear is installed!

Those bottom three panels in the top picture were covered in carpet this morning. Removing the carpet is a real pain. It is glued (heavily) and stapled. It took me several hours just to get the carpet and staples off and remove the adhesive residue. Then I painted the panels black (they were white), and installed the SeaDek.

Now if the upholstery would just get done.......

Can't your local guy refinish your dash pod, versus recover? We had a bimini incident which resulted in a few dings in our dash pod / throttle area vinyl. Our local guy says it's easy to patch the damaged areas, and then actually change the color of the pod itself. I'm having it sprayed black to match my boat better. It looks like he uses an air brush type of thing to do the vinyl work...the same tool they use when repairing upholstery.

The local places around here wanted over $1,000 to recover the dash pod. They all said it was very difficult due to the contours. I think the SeaDek idea is going to work well if I have to go that route. Still waiting to get the dash pod back from Nautique though. We'll see what it looks like when it comes back.

Finally! I just heard from the upholstery place, and they should have it all set for me on Monday!

I will install it next week, and finally get to take a ride!!!

That is great news for you. I am anxious to see you being able to use the boat I can only imagine your feelings.

I put off delivery of the interior until Thursday because I was up in Indiana looking at a 1987 Ski Nautique 2001 yesterday and today. Not sure I'll get the interior installed this week because I will be in Raleigh for the boat show with White Lake Friday - Sunday. I might get some of it installed Thursday if they get it here early enough.

Got a call yesterday from Nautique, and they should have the dash ready for me soon.

It should all come together pretty quickly now...

I might get some of it installed Thursday if they get it here early enough.
