One last engine part to paint... Used a wheel paint just because it looked like a good color match and was heat resistant to 250F. Also did not require bare metal so was able to just scuff up the old paint that was on it with a scotch bright pad and spray over it. Color came out okay kind of a silver metallic similar to original.

Really happy with the visual outcome of the motor....now just crossing fingers that I have everything correct and it fires up and runs good!

Dude, you'll have a brand new looking boat by the end of it. I'M really impressed by the dedication to detail you're putting into this project. It will look amazing once you're done.

That's the goal... A brand new 2002 super air nautique or as close as possible anyway... Luckily I'm just a wanna be wakeboarder otherwise I'm not sure I could stand looking at this thing in pieces for as long as I have. I really like the look and feel of these older nautique wakeboard boats. To me the older late 90s through about 2003 nautiques were the perfect blend of modern technology and tr looks. I just get more pumped seeing a nice late 90s model nautique than I do a new fancy G series. Just my own preference which is why to me it's worth the time and money to do something like this.

I guarantee you're inspiring more people than you even know. As these boats age, your project will become a benchmark standard for others to follow and learn from. Thanks for your time spent sharing this with everyone.

Got the carpet out. Left behind lots of old glue that needed to be sanded off.

Bought a cordless dewalt grinder and used an 80 grit sanding wheel which made quick work of the glue clean up. Full face respirator is a must.

Vacuumed up all the dust and its prepped for the new carpet. Might run a pressure washer over the bilge just because it's last chance to get everything really clean while access is easy and there's no concern of damaging the new carpet or anything else.

Iv got my roll of bulk carpet in from Christine's and am ready to trace the old carpet I removed but I'm pretty pumped on all this seadeck talk and projects I'm following on here so I'm going back and forth now between keeping it carpet or joining in on the sea deck craze. So i do what I always do when I need to kill time, pull staples and recover seats.... I came across a couple broken seat bases the the previous owner had tried to patch up when he did some recovering so I figure I could include my repair procedure in this thread. Below is the previous owners repair to the stock rear bench seat base. The staples held up as I didn't know it was broken until I pulled off the upholstery cover. The seat foam is glued to the seat base so you have to be careful you don't tear the foam when pulling it off the seat base.
