1981 TWIN-ENGINE Fish Nautique!!

Well, I have some good news. After filling the plug holes with PB Blaster for a couple of days, the port engine now turns freely! I haven't tried to start it or anything, but I'll count this as a win for now!

Hopefully the starboard engine will free up soon as well. We'll see!

I told ya! That stuff is amazing! Great job and can't wait to see the finished product.

Here's an update on what's happening with this boat right now.

The boat is at the fiberglass shop right now, having the floor built and installed, and the exterior gelcoat refinished.

A couple of weeks ago, I picked up a donor Fish Nautique from Cape Cod. The donor is a 1986, so it has the seating/storage compartments molded into the front floor section. That's a major upgrade over the earlier Fish Nautiques, which had simple, flat front floors with no seating or storage at all.

Here's the donor boat:



The donor boat also has a top deck cap that is in better shape than the one on the twin-engine, so we may end up switching that over as well.

The front floor section (from the engine opening forward) was removed from the donor boat today, and it is ready to install into the twin-engine.



The rear floor section will be custom-built and completely removable. That way we can get to the gas tank, shafts, rudders, exhaust, etc. when necessary.

Things are progressing well! Can't wait to get it finished up!

Got the front floor section placed today. Also had a little test buffing done. Looking good so far!

So jealous! Beautiful boat with the good updates. Perhaps finishing of with 2x V8. But these V6 are beautiful and original, that is a big plus.

NautiqueJeff, Was that you driving westbound on on 90 or 84 through Mass/CT on August 26th? I was headed to Maine and think I saw you en-route! In my head I laughed thinking I should tell Jeff that there's another one out there! :-)

I am beyond frustrated with the delay on getting this boat wrapped up.

It has been sitting at the fiberglass shop for the last NINETEEN months!

I made two mistakes when I took it there. First, I told them that I wasn't in a rush, and second, I pre-paid for the work!

Here's the current state of the boat. The new floor is in (kind of), and the new interior deck is in place, including the front seats. That's about it though.

I will be going back out there this week to have a discussion with them about getting their part wrapped up so that I can start my part.

It would be nice to add an angled display box on top of the console for a built-in chart plotter and depth finder display versus mounting it on brackets.

Yeah, I might just reconfigure the entire dash to incorporate screens in place of gauges. We'll see.

Guess what's finally back in the shop! Back to work on it starting next week!

I am setting a goal of having it ready for the 2020 Southeast Nautique Regatta.
