I know, it's been fun! I grew up on a lake...so not having a boat for the past 10 years has been painful. But since we've basically always had an infant in the house, I knew that had I purchased one earlier, it would just gather dust and create frustration. Now that we're done with babies, I'm so excited to enter this new phase of life where we can enjoy the lake/boat life

Watching the seadek with interest.

You've pretty much done all the hard work for us, now we can just reference your print for future seadek needs. About the only thing I might skip are the dash covers, I'll have to see how those look when you're done.

Just speaking from experience with SeaDek on this era of boats. I would not jump right in and order the pieces without having them send templates of it first. I had SeaDek done on my 2001 SAN and then took my buddies 2001 SAN to get done 6 months later and the only identical match was the glove box lid. I don’t think any boats were identical back then, especially if you have a tower and are doing a radius around the tower with SeaDek. His tower placement was at least an inch and a half off from mine.

The boat is at North Lake Fiberglass having the chips fixed and getting a full sand/buff. Should be really nice when it is finished.

I also decided to go ahead and do new carpet.

Once that's all finished, the boat will be going up to C&S Marine's shop in New Jersey to have a whole new interior installed. Really looking forward to that!

C&S is in New Jersey. Sweet. That's local for me. Not that I need anything now (I can still get factory skins for my 2009) but I certainly have plans to fix up another older Nautique.

Well, I have made a little progress on the dash.

I fixed the faulty readings on the fuel gauge and the oil pressure gauge.

The voltmeter is still pegging at 18+ volts.

Did a little testing today with a handheld voltmeter, and found that the voltage from the alternator is coming out at a nice 14.4 volts, which is perfect. It measured the same at the terminals of the voltmeter in the dash, and the same at the battery. That tells me that the voltmeter gauge in the dash is bad, which is great! That means I don't need a new alternator (or a voltage regulator). That $359 problem just became a $30 problem!

I have been looking for a reason to replace all of the small gauges in the dash anyway. This boat already had the speedometer/tachometer replaced to eliminate the failing digital versions that came with the boat originally. The gauges Nautique sent out as replacements for those digital gauges were Faria Chesapeake gauges, and they don't match the smaller gauges that are left in the dash once the original digital gauges are replaced.

Here are the replacement gauges that Nautique supplied for the gauge recall. As you can see, they do NOT match the remaining smaller gauges.





Since I have to replace the voltmeter anyway, I might as well replace all four smaller gauges so that they will all match the speedometer and tachometer. Here's what the matching small gauges look like. This will allow me to have a dash where all gauges match (and work!).

I went ahead and ordered a second set of new battery cables for this boat since the first ones I ordered were too short. I installed those yesterday and now the battery sits in its proper location in the nose of the bow. Now I have a set of brand new battery cables that will be a good length for a Ski Nautique if/when I get another one that needs new cables.

For a Sport Nautique, always order 15' cables!!!

Yeah I replace some of my gauges on my 2001 SN and you are right can't match original gauges when you upgrade to new. The one I never replaced was the water/air temp gauge located below the throttle arm because it is not longer made,

Well, I have decided to pull the boat over to White Lake Marine / Nautique Parts tomorrow to try to match up a windshield door. They have a bunch of different ones in stock, and hopefully I can find a match. I will also pick up a few additional parts needed to finish this thing up.

Once I get back home, while it is out of the water, I'll go ahead and pull the ballast system out, replace the steering cable, and install the decals and SeaDek.

I have been running it on the lake pretty much every day, and it is running great!

Just got home from a trip to White Lake. Pretty happy with what I was able to get.

I found a windshield door that looks like it will fit nicely. They actually had a used one, so that worked out great. Here's a shot of the new (used) one in front of the old (used) one to show the size difference.





I also picked up the remaining parts I needed to wrap things up. One gas shock, a couple of 2" dash plugs, and a 12-volt receptacle.





Now here's the piece I am really excited to have found. This is believed to be the very last brand new (NOS) dashboard for 2001-2002 boats. The idea of installing SeaDek on the old dash to cover the cracks didn't work out as well as I had hoped. I was very happy to dig this out of White Lake's stash! This one is for a 2002 (mine is a 2001), but the only difference is the hole for the 12-volt outlet. I'll just install one and wire it up, and we'll be good to go.

I took the battery out of the bow and relocated to the port side in the stern locker. I'm now running a 3 battery system, 1 starter (24 agm) and 2 house (34) with a battery bank switch. The extra 120lbs relocated on the port side really leveled out the boat and keeps the bow higher when someone is sitting up there.

Don't know if its a 502 Python thing, but she use to sit about 1.5" low on the starboard side when empty just floating.

You’re gonna have a lot of people butt hurt about that dash board. Seems like at least once a month someone is on Facebook asking where to get a new one. Nobody could ever seem to find one. **** I don’t even need it and I’d buy it if I came across it.

I just went out to work on the windshield, but I couldn't resist installing the SeaDek.

Maybe I'll work on the windshield later tonight.

Here are some shots of the SeaDek installed. I am very happy with how this turned out! It covered the tower holes nicely, and made the boat more functional on top of that.
