Since you've identified the audio as an important feature, have a look at building in some subwoofer capacity and also look at designing in a place for a second battery (while you're at it, relocate the original battery).
In my build, I left the original in the bow, and built a box under the observer seat. It worked, but, pulling the second batter was a pain! I'm not sure where you could locate them,but, since the deck is off...

I will be running 3 JL M6-10's in a 4.5 cu ft ported enclosure tuned to 28 hz. The enclosure will sit just in front of the drivers feet underneath the dash. A beauty panel will be made using the same woven mesh used on the rest of the speakers. Still trying to figure out what material I will build everything out of. I will be utilizing a labyrinth port design with rounded over corners. It will save more space than an L style port. When I build this enclosure I will more than likely move the port to the top to prevent water from entering. I am expecting this combo to have a fairly flat frequency response from sub 30hz to 70 hz. Gotta love JL. I have a little SQL tuning business on the side so this is the fun part for me!

In regard to batteries, I will have a dual battery setup. The amps and batteries will be mounted underneath the glove box area. I am going to try and mount everything as close to the center as possible to keep the weight fairly even.

In regards to the batteries and storage, maybe figure out a place to flush mount them in the floor? I mean, while the deck is off...

I really like the building in a battery well concept as it would certainly free up space but you'd need to do AGM so there's no mess or venting issues to concern yourself with. I've always liked my batteries next to the engine where the primary ground is but there seems to be a lot of boats with the batteries mounted under the observer dash.

As to materials for the sub box..... That's a good one. Most everything I've seen built is out of MDF but I have no clue how well that will hold up in a marine environment. I like the idea of StarBoard but have no clue how that would be acoustically.

You should consider fiberglassing the sub box. We did that to one of ours back in the day and it sounded great

I really like that idea! Does anyone know where the stringers run through the boat? I just dont want to cut into one of those. But this is a great idea. It would look really clean. Thanks for the suggestion!

nautique9911 and bturner MDF in a marine environment is a no go unfortunately. It absorbs water, molds, and de-laminates when exposed to humidity. I am considering StarBoard but the joints would have to be plastic welded as there is no other way to seal it. Caulk and glue have a hard time sticking to StarBoard. I have also considered building a box out of 1/2" coosa board and wrapping it in fiberglass mat. It would pretty much indestructible at that point but the coosa board would have to be completed sealed on all surfaces including the labyrinth port to not absorb sound waves. Hard wood coated with fiberglass/resin would also be an option and probably the easiest.

What’s so great about this thread is the OP clearly has a grip on what he is doing, and a good one at that, but has come here to document and share his build as well as listen to solid suggestions and is open to ideas. Not many people can do that, kudos to you and being talented and humble at the same time. No doubt it will lead to an incredible build.

I know the boats arenÂ’t identical but this might give you an idea of placement for the stringers. You may not have enough depth to get a true flush mount battery, but just using any available space besides siting them in the floor helps. Take your time and cut slow... worst case you have a bit more fiberglass work to do!

I am actually about to cut the bump out under the dash to move the sub box under there so it will require more fiberglass work but not nearly as involved as doing the battery boxes.

On the interior sides of the hull, there are some black rubber mat like sheets attached. Are those just sound deadening sheets? Wondering if I can remove them for media blasting or if they are important to the structural integrity of the walls of hull? I’d find something comparable to replace them with if they are sound deadening sheets. If structural I’ll leave them in place.

Phenomenal job core-rider ! I wish the photos were still full quality. I am definitely considering this but I agree that depth might be an issue. I'll do some measuring once the hull comes back from media blasting.
