Have some tape issues on swim platform and have to apply nonskid to top of the dog box.
will do both tomorrow. Still inside adhesion time frame, 7pm sunday is 48 hrs, plan to be having dinner long before that.

used a gallon and a1/2 and got 3 coats.

The old control was broken on the spring loaded throttle cable slide so the new one came a couple days ago, it needed a slightly larger hole.
got the gauges in, the steering in and the cables connected.

the steering shaft is a little sloppy, anyone know if there is a direct replacement ?
i hooked the cables up to the new controls the same way the old controls functioned but push to shift makes it look like it puts the trans in reverse based off the cable stay and my memory of these bw's ( lever towards front is forward, lever towards rear is reverse)
are the transmissions reversed like the engine (i'm prob overthinking or missed something)

Wow. The boat is really looking awesome. The blue decking really works nicely with the blue side graphics. That step back picture really tells a great story.

Re the steering unit - are you referring to up/down play on the shaft that holds the steering wheel? If so, it's common problem at least on the 90's era wheels....there are a couple plastic bushings the assembly that wear and can be replaced. I did a post on this some time ago...I'll dig through my stuff and link it here when I have a few minutes...

                  Thank you,
yes exactly that, up and down play and 1 bushing i can see is worn out, it would be a great help.

                    Here's that old thread.

                    https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/f...table-steering

There are two bushings. My first fix was only to do front one and I wouldn't recommend that. The guy who did the brass bushings is my hero; he had the tools and skills I wanted to have. Be interesting to see if yours is the same.....

Silent7, thank you that's a big help and your right the guy who put the brass bushings job was done really good.
today talking to skiboatpartsonline i learned parts are no longer available for this unit and a new one is 400 bucks.
He called it a big T w/ upgraded cable assembly do-hickey after i described it to him.

the original unit i'll keep and see if it can be rebushed between boats.

this boat is nice, not perfect like the longhorn or any one of jeffs boats, but it's nice and i can't live with the slop so a new unit was ordered, the 89 dollar one.
still get to use the original wheel and that's good.

Starter, coil, wiring harness, etc etc, big list of stuff is on the way.

                      thanks again.

Seen it ! I booked marked it buddy, thanks again. The mechanical is overwhelming to me, swear to god they design stuff to wear out or break.
Rather grind and glass at least that's all on me.
