With having had an 1998 MB Sports for a little over 20 years I decided it was time to make a change and join the Nautique Family. After countless hours of searching the internet I found our new boat, 2012 All White Super Air Nautique 210 Team Edition. Its not a brand new G23, but for me it was all I needed. I bought the boat knowing I was going to do multiple up-grades to it but didn't know exactly what I wanted to do. This is my journey on turning a Stock SANTE 210 into a WakeSurf boat that will compete with any other boat on the market.

Right off the bat I decided to tow the boat over to Marvin at Aegis Auto Detailing to remove the Griffin logo and to fully clean and wax the boat. While the boat was there I decided to remove most of the warning decals as it just looked too cluttered and not clean enough to my standards. I was also going to apply ceramic pro to the exterior and interior of the boat, but decided I'd rather have it on the water and add that to the project list. Marvin did an amazing job and the boat looked as good as new.

After having the boat on the water for the weekend I decided the wake didn't meet my standards and that I needed to add more weight to the boat. After doing some research I decided that adding the piggy back takes from WakeMakers was my best option. I thought about pulling the hard tanks, but after some research I heard the piggyback system was the best. The system adds 750lbs to each stern locker. With that much weight in the back of the boat I had to add 200lbs to the bow in lead weight. Along with the piggy back system we use a swell wake surf plate which makes the wave form to one side. In total the boat carries around 2,500lbs worth of ballast and lead. The wave in incredible, Clean, Crisp, Long, and Tall. Even my friends with a G23 say its just as good as theirs and love surfing my 210.

I bought the boat knowing it was capable of having the NSS system installed and so after surfing on it for the whole summer I decided to take it to Superior Boat Repair and have the NSS installed. The wake was awesome with the ballast bags and the swell wake plate but the convenience of the NSS system is unbeatable.

With my extensive background in-car audio and marine audio, it was time to do an over the top system. The existing Clarion & Polk factory set up was not up to my standards. I have been out of the industry for quite some time so unfortunately, I did not have access to a shop or the space needed for the install, however, I knew just the man for the job. I drove the boat down to Orange, CA to Gary Bell @ Define Concepts and to work his magic on the truly custom installation. There are only a handful few installers in the country that I trust and have the ability to pull off the install. He is truly an expert in his craft. He did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. As you will see in the pictures this was no easy job, with almost every upgrade several custom part(s) had to be created. I will be creating individual posts for each new audio upgrade and what went on behind the scenes to get it installed.
An extra special thanks to Manville Smith & Mike Fukuda at JL Audio. Manville is on the executive team at JL and we have known each other for 30+ years. Mike Fakuda in on the JL OEM team and assists Nautique with the design and setup of all of its systems (Including the new Paragon)
I also want to call out an extra effort that Gary Bell and his Team did during the installation. I brought the boat to Gary in mid-February with the plan to pick up the boat towards the end of April. Pretty much immediately after dropping the boat off, California went into lockdown for COVID-19. Gary and his team pivoted from my boat and with his network of custom installers across the country went into PPE face shield production. They produced shields for 5 straight weeks basically 24/7 and were hand-delivering them to all first responders & hospitals.

Subwoofer
Originally the boat had a Polk Audio subwoofer retrofired now to a massive M7 12" JL Audio subwoofer. Major fabrication was necessary to make this work. (enlarging the hole in the fiberglass, adding additional fiberglass stringers to the hull of the boat behind the woofer to reduce vibration, modification to the factory panel with upholstery and add fiberglass and sound deadening to to reduce vibration, crated a one off custom housing for the new woofer.) Check out the link to a video of the trim ring https://www.facebook.com/garyebell/v...user_video_tab & https://www.facebook.com/garyebell/v...user_video_tab

Interior Speakers
Originally the boats had Polk Audio 6.5” speakers (quantity 6) interior speakers. These were changed out to the JL Audio M6-650X (quantity 6) and wired for blue illumination to match the upgraded SeaDek (see SeaDek post Coming soon). These are the same JL audio series speakers that can be found in the 2021 G Paragon. Installation was straight forward, however, we ran a new speaker wire and illumination control wire to each speaker.
Tower Enclosed Speakers
Originally the boats had Polk Audio 6.5” side tower speakers (quantity 2) & Roswell 7.0 top tower speakers (quantity 2). The Polk Audio side tower speakers rotated180°. Gary Bell @Define Concepts sure had his work cut out for him on this phase of the project. We wanted to replace the side tower speaker with the JL Audio M6-770ETXv3 Enclosed Speakers and keep the functionality of rotating180°. This involved some serious customization. Gary cut apart the factory swivel mount, CNC'ed a billet adapter plate, welded the factory swivel mount to the billet adaptor plate, and finished it off with a black powder coat. The new mount is bulletproof and looks better than the original. We replaced the Roswell 7.0 top tower speaker with JL Audio M6-880ETXv3 Enclosed Speakers and in doing so needed another custom CNC'ed billet adapter mount. Both sets of tower speakers are illuminated blue to match the interior speakers. I had my son who weighs about 170lbs hang on the speakers, they didn’t even budge. Similar to the interior speakers these JL tower speakers are the same series that can be found in the 2021 G Paragon.
