Not yet. Boat is still at the fiberglass shop getting buffed out. I'm hoping to get it down to PCM next week.

Got the boat back from the gelcoat shop today. The gelcoat looks outstanding on this one!

New rubrail is on, too.

The boat will head to PCM next week for a quick engine review and test. Not really expecting any issues, but after sitting for seventeen years, they're just going to give it a quick look.

That looks incredible. Out curiosity, to maintain that sheen below the waterline, have you considered ceramic coating? I only ask because I am considering ceramic coating the entire longhorn hull and deck.

Did you get the motor to turn over?

Not yet. I am letting PCM work through the engine since it has been sitting for so long. They should have it running next week.

This boat is at PCM now. They offered to check out the engine for me, so I took it down there yesterday. They'll get it figured out quickly, and I should have it back soon, and running!

Ok, heard back from PCM today. It sounds like the engine did not like sitting for all those years. It is pretty rusty inside the cylinders. PCM is going to pull it all apart and machine the block, then reassemble everything. They're going to replace the old style FCC with a new one, and update a few other things that their updated engines got over the years. This engine will be fixed the right way, which is what this low-hour boat deserves.

I was hoping to be able to get it running myself at no extra expense, but that's not how things go sometimes unfortunately, even on an engine with only 11 hours on it.

That's too bad but maybe not that surprising. This case is so rare that it's hard to predict but yeah..when you sit back and think about it...a boat stored outdoors in a wet condition for that long was likely to have condensation and rust on internals. Guessing water pooled in the cylinders and it pitted out the bores and maybe rust welded the rings to boot. Be interesting to see if the valves survived or if they need to be replaced as well. Not hard to see that you could have pitting on stems and maybe even the edges.

You've had a run of bum luck with engines. First the cracked frozen block and now this one. I guess on the other hand the PCM guys are like your current BFFs!

Yeah, this is the second engine this year that has needed major work, but that's OK. At least this one can be saved, unlike that cracked block.

PCM has been good to me! I have paid them a good bit of money this year, but they are treating me very well considering what I have needed!

PCM will be finished with the engine on Thursday! Not sure if I'll be able to pick it up that day because I may be down in Orlando picking up the 2021 PN G23, but I'll have this one back home soon. Can't wait!
