Looks like "Danny" has good reviews. Maybe his wife left him and he's sucking off the bottle now, you probably just happened to be the dude on one of his worse than bad days.
You never know, I don't get grumpy fetchers, just try to stay out of their path when possible.
Small Claims Court is only $96, and 4 hours of time that you'll never get back...

He did good work on the white 2003 he did for me, but that one took forever too. This one was just ridiculous though.

His real reputation around here is less-than-stellar. I am learning that as I ask around for a shop to fix this mess.

Thanks so much for your reviews of LKN fiberglass shops. I'm a few years away from pulling the trigger on gelcoat on my SN but it will have to happen eventually.

I have found one more gelcoat place here at Lake Norman to try. This guy has worked for several of the places around here, and has decided to start his own business. We'll see how he does on this boat. If he doesn't do well, I'll probably take it to the place PCM has recommended.

He just texted me tonight and said that he thinks the red will still sand/buff out OK. Here's his test patch. Of course this is just very rough sanding and compounding. There's no polish to this area yet, but at least the oxidation seems to be able to be cut pretty well. And yes, he'll pull the rest of the pinstripe before the final cut/polish.

Finally some good news on this boat. The guy I am using for the gelcoat work just sent these over, and it sure looks better than it did before!

He has only done the hull so far, but he'll attack the top deck next.

Hi Jeff, I've been reading about all your restoration projects. Very informative. This one, and the 2003 project boat caught my attention because you said the boats came from Kelleys Island. I spend a week in April every year out there fishing. I knew there was a camp on the island, but didn't realize they had Ski Nautiques. They definitely aren't in the water in April. That camp is somewhat sheltered, but I still can't imagine they get many calm days. The constant swells must make even tubing a challenge most of the time.

This boat was officially delivered back to me from the gelcoat guy today. Pretty happy with how it turned out. Check out the original pictures on page 1, and then look at these.

It goes in for new carpet next week, and then it is time to start putting it back together!
