1996 Ski Nautique Open Bow

Well, another one followed me home today.

This one is a 1996 Ski Nautique Open Bow. I bought it for the windshield, but it may be too nice of a boat to part out. The interior is trashed, but that's not too hard to fix. I'll dig into it a little bit tomorrow and see what all it needs.

It will certainly need a new interior, it is missing the swim platform, and the engine is in pieces.

That said, it is a nice-looking boat and would clean up well. There is really no major damage. It just needs the general refurbishment treatment that all of my boats get.

Thoughts on what I should do with it?

Taking a boat like that through a complete transformation…..bigger challenge & bigger win when you’re done.

I may be in the minority here but... I vote part it out and use it for other boats.

Take the windshield and use it on the other boat. Park this one in a corner and see you can find still another windshield....if you can, then maybe you do it. Otherwise pick it clean, resell the trailer and dump the rest. I think you put this one at the bottom of the list and be opportunistic...looks like A LOT of work.

Went through it all this afternoon.

The upholstery is probably the worst I have seen. All of the bases are there though, so it is possible to fix it all. I put it all in place today, and it is comically bad. I honestly considered fixing up the gelcoat really nicely, throwing a good engine in it, and leaving the awesome interior just the way it is and taking it to the Regatta next year like that! I think that would be awesome! I'd do it except that the previous owner had some crappy upholstery shop attempt to fix the rear seat cushions, one side bolster, and the open bow seat pad. They look terrible, but the terrible job they did is new, so they would stand out against the original stuff. I still might do it!

Looking into costs for new upholstery and carpet now. This one may end up getting made like-new sooner than later!

Florida saltwater boat? Looks like something down south to cook the interior that bad. This one must have really been close to free for you to go get it. I don't know how you could make the numbers work on this one to do the restore. The interior alone up here would be $6K - $7K. Should be interesting.....

I don't think it was a FL boat. It was up in Maryland since at least 2000. I don't really see any indication of salt.
