    2000 Sport gone Air

My father in law works at the local Nautique dealer and came across this gem back in may. Been sitting for 3yrs and did really have a lot of info on it.
Of course the real question is how much does the dealer want for it

The first two pics with the cover on was all I got from my FIL. After a quite a few beers and a conversation neither of us remember. She now sits in my driveway being brought back to life

    These are the before

    Let the detailing begin!

When I first saw this boat in person my thought was it's gonna need all new interior, there's no saving this. Well after two gallons of Awesome cleaner and Simple Green. This was the results

For the Gel coat restoration I used a product called poly glow. It had mixed reviews but for a $100 kit I was willing to give it a try. You can see for yourself it works.

Even though the boat is a sport I decided to go with air decals because I just like the look of it over the sport. With the tower on it and ballast system I'm installing.

Also was lucky enough that Nautique parts had the same color pinstripe so that was replaced along with the transom OWCT decal.

Looking good. Love the Nautique N in the gel coat on that era of boat!

Looks great, just hope next year you don't end up wishing you had done it the old fashioned way (wet sand/buffer)

I just finally got the last of that stuff off my 2000 Sport from the PO.

                  Does look great!

We need some long term test cases on how faded boats that are sanded out / compounded out hold up over time.

My personal experience has been that once you have a severe level of fading, you can polish the surface back but it's prone to return to the faded state much faster than original gelcoat.

It's easily manageable...you just need to continue to do quick polisher touch-ups of the surface to bring it back.

NautiqueJeff turns over his 'gelcoat recovery' boats and so we loose them as test cases. Maybe at NOTTEAK will hold this boat long enough so we develop some better opinions about how a re-polish performs over time.

Thank you guys I'm pretty excited on how it came out. Time obviously will tell if it will hold up. I'm on the edge of selling or keeping. My father in law just came up with a sv211 at the dealership so I'm considering flipping this one for that one.

Poli-glow does stress in their instructions… PREP, PREP, PREP!! Just like wet sanding and buffing if you half *** it you get half *** results.

I made sure to have a uniform haze during wet sanding and even set a timer between coats.

Poli-glow also recommends maintaining “layers” so 1-3 coats every season. I'd assume (*** outta me and you ) that without proper prep and maintenance this stuff would be an absolute c-you-next-Tuesday to remove and either replace or buff out.

                    UPDATE!
The rear sun deck/ trunk was absolutely destroyed I was back and forth on replacing the fabric or doing seadeck. I chose seadeck because I was missing the middle seat cushion and thought it would make a perfect step for in and out of the boat.

Had some left over and the glove box had a small crack in it so covered it also.
