SCM - 2002 Super Air Nautique Refresh

A client from Belews Creek, NC brought in this nice 2002 Super Air Nautique today. He just wants a few things freshened up on the boat. It is a beautiful boat, and the colors are great. We'll be going through it and checking out all systems, installing a new rubrail, installing a new bimini top, replacing all of the gauges on the dash, installing the correct factory graphics and pinstripes on the hull sides, and fixing a few other odds and ends.

Man, who thought up those digital gauges? Those things are FUGLY! Huge improvement with the update.

I think the idea behind them was OK, but it is clear that the technology wasn't ready at the time. That, and they didn't match any of the other gauges. And they were the ONLY place that the hours were stored. And.... And....

Yeah, the replacements are a better option!

The way I do gauge replacements is a little different than Nautique's suggested method. Nautique's method relies on the PerfectPass paddlewheel for speed input, whereas my replacements use GPS, replace ALL of the gauges so they all match (instead of just the speedometer and tachometer like the Nautique kit), and my set is less expensive!

Ok, this one is just about wrapped up. Tomorrow is the water test, and as long as everything works as expected, it'll be ready to head home with its owner. We have installed a new rub rail, all new graphics, all new gauges, adjusted the PerfectPass, installed a new bimini top, replaced the fuel sender, replaced the impeller, and removed some outdated add-ons. This has been a fun transformation, and I think it looks great!

That thing is sweet. There are some great newer boats out there, but I just love these classics!

It is being refinished by the owner. He has it at his house.

Wondered if that wasn't the case. Let him know, he has been formerly requested to don a picture of the completion with installed said swim deck.
