My Nautique Restoration Company, Silver Cove Marine, just finished up some work on this little Ski Nautique 176. These are cool boats, and I thought I'd share some highlights of our work here. For the full restoration details, check out the Restoration Blog for this boat on the Silver Cove Marine website below.
Ski Nautique 176 Restoration Work
The boat was in pretty good condition when it arrived, but we started out by wiring in a new dedicated ground wire for the dash that ran straight to the engine block. This eliminated ground issues that plague this era of Nautique. We also installed a ground bus, a new GPS speedometer, and a new ignition switch.
We also installed a dripless packing system, eliminating the original stuffing box. No more drips for this boat!
The gelcoat was wet sanded and buffed.
New pinstripes were installed.
New decals were installed. These were custom-made, since Nautique no longer offers graphics for the 176.
The carburetor was rebuilt.
Here's the test run video:
And here's the finished product!
