Does anybody know the thread size for the drain plug on the GT40 motor? I'm going to convert to a hose barb and hose so I can empty used oil through the hull in future. Much cleaner.......

RE: PCM GT40 drain plug
Ally, the thing to do is invest in a Pela oil pump, it sucks all the old oil via the dipstick pipe. Saves you warming the boat, putting it on the trailer etc, plus it gets all the crap out of the bottom of the sump, plus it works for the gearbox as well.

RE: PCM GT40 drain plug
I too have a 97 sport and wanted to put a drain hose on the block. I spoke with SDIM and they said that for some reason for just the 97 you have to lift the engine put a drain hose on it. I decided to buy a pump from them and it works well. it is one like the 1400 model listed above.

Do you have one I can borrow???
I used a crappy small brass hand held pump to empty the oil from the Chevy engine in the last boat - took about 3years, 2 million strokes on the pump and also managed to get oil all over the carpet. Which was nice!Loch Lomond: Scotland
