I don't think Stargazer is obsolete. Perfect Pass settled a lawsuit with Zero Off. Zero Off got PP's OEM contracts and patents for DBW boats (for Delphi ecms I guess). PP got exclusive license to ZO's gps technology and retained its servo driven system patent. They will continue to support and presumably update existing SG systems for wired boats and DBW systems already in place. I've been told in no uncertain terms that SG isn't going anywhere. And with their exclusive license of ZO's gps technologies, I wouldn't be surprised if they are able to duplicate the pull so that people with older non-DBW boats don't feel so compelled to drop the big money on a newer ride. Just a guess on that last part though.
If you've got a wired throttle, you don't have to worry about making any decisions about what speed control to get as Perfect Pass has 8 more years or so on that patent, which was the subject of the lawsuit they just settled. If you have an existing SG system, they will support you. If you have DBW and 6.5, I'm not sure if you can upgrade to SG or not, but it may be worth a call if you don't have to have exactly what's being used in tournaments, especially when it's only a $400 upgrade versus $1,300. They are great about answering calls and questions.
