    2005 SN 196 Electrical Problems

took our 2005 SN 196 to the lake, everything was running great, then disaster. The depth gauge sounded off, looked down, No tach, No eng temp, No hour meter!! Shut off the toggle switch, restart, same thing. Disconnect the battery, still no eng hours, no tach, no eng temp. I have air/wtr, volt, gas. I pulled the dash off, pulled off the connectors, reset, same problem. The engine still runs OK

Does anyone know what could have gone wrong??[/b]

Check the ground to the dash pod.

Was this the first time out this year? If you have the Faria Digital Gauges, my Guess would be the Faria box/controller which should be in the trunk. Take it out and inspect the circuit board for any moisture.

        electrical problem solved

Thanks to Vince @ Discount, this PlanetNautique board and CC in Florida, the mystery has been solved. It was the pitot tube sensor leaking within the Faria black box, located in the truck of the boat. The black box holds all the electonics for the gauges, and there was about an inch of water in it. Drained the water, dried the electonic boards out, sprayed with contact cleaner, everything works. Thanks again to the poster on this site, every bit of info helped
