Ski Nautique 2004 speedometer

Hello people.
Please help - in my boat the speedometer suddenly stopped working. I checked the small wheel at the bottom of the boat, it is not stuck or dirty. How the whole thing works - is it connected to the gauges by electrical wire or by an air/water pipe? What should I check first?

Right, I start the engine, spin the wheel, and the speedometer shows no trace of life. When runnind on the water, speedometer pointer is at zero, PerfectPass also thinks that the speed is zero.
