    eratic oil pressure reading.

Just put our new to us 2006 196 limited in the lake. The oil pressure warning came on as soon as it warmed up, less than 10 minutes. It comes back up when you cut the throttle. Oil level is good, temp is good, and it didn't go into limp mode. Only the red light in the gauge flashed.
    Appreciate any help,
    Scotty

    RE: eratic oil pressure reading.

I am certainly no expert but had a similar problem with a new to me 2006 last fall. I have a couple of questions... Was the oil pressure low or high? Did the check engine light come on? Is your battery at full charge?

The battery is charged, voltage read 14.4. The readout below the tach flashed "warning low oil pressure" then then red light blinked in the center of that readout. The big red light above and between the gauges did not come on. Oil pressure read between 10 and 45 PSI.
      thanks

In my case I saw the oil pressure jumping around between 5 and 50 and also saw the "warning low oil pressure" message. (not sure about the red light). This happened the first day I used the boat last fall and I then put it away for the winter. CC sent me a new oil pressure sender and a Gateway which I have not installed as the problem did not manifest itself on the two days I used the boat this spring. The only things that are different between last fall and now is an oil change and a fully charged battery. I am leaning towards it being a battery issue. I plan to run the boat again this coming weekend and see what happens.

It will most likely be the sensor - I had same problem and dealer replaced pressure sensor and no problem now - Pressure would drop and alarms ring when throttle down

it has been a very long winter here in Minnesota and I really wanted to ski tonight. But wasn't willing to risk the engine. So I wired in an new aftermarket gauge in a temporary fashion. This showed steady oil pressure, increased with the RPM's of course. The sender looked identical to the CC sender so I reconnected the factory wire to the new sender and all is well, the water was great. Thanks for all the help.
