How warm is the heater supposed to be? Mine doesn't seem to be very warm.

Boats with heaters need the 165 degree thermostat. The instructions on the heatercraft website says so. You can get them in a bunch of places, however, support your local dealer if you have one.2001 Super Air Nautique

impeller
Hi.
Once the engine is hot, try to increse engine rpm to +/- 1800 rpm in neutral and see if water comes hot. If yes you may need to replace your impeller.
My heater have this problem and the engine don't overheat at idle.
If the problem is not the impeller I sugest you to check the pipe that feeds the heater with hot water as well as the return pipe (look for an obstruction).
If you still have no luck try to remove the panel in front of the driver knees and chech if the the hot air pipes are weel connected.
Good luck!
