Calibrate fuel gauge

Is it possible to calibrate the fuel gauge of a SuperSport from 1997? And if so, how?

analog or digital? if it is an analog gauge, the sender is a generic item. just bend the rod to make the gauge show empty when it's time to head to the trailer. bend the rod up to make the gauge read lower. be sure to disconnect the battery before you get out the screwdriver.

why do you need to calibrate the fuel sender? but with that year bending the rod is the method to adjust it
