    Boat cover needs waterproofed

    Hey ya'll,

I have an older cover for my '89 2001, and it's the canvas cover. It's in great shape and still fits great, but I would like to waterproof it, as the rain just goes right through it and into the boat. Any idea-rs?

    Hey Travis,

West Marine sells a few products for waterprooding canvas. Just search 'Canvas Waterproof' and it should pull them up. It looks like they have products from Meguiars, Starbrite and their own brand...

I've never used one myself, but I looked at one last year. As I recall it recommended washing the canvas and after it dries you just spray the product on and let it dry. If I remember correctly the package warned against getting it on your boat.

    Hope that helps.

Go to walmart and get a can or 2 of camp dry. It is a spray waterproofer I used on my canvas cover for a few years. You have to re apply halfway through the year but it works and it is really cheap too.

        Yep, Walmart or Academy.

I got some camping waterproofer at Walmart. It works good with rain, but you can still get dew under the cover.

I used Aqua-Tite last year on a 1990 cover, and it worked great! I got it here:
