why does my 2002 san do weird electrical things?

My 2002 sante seems to have serious electrical supply issues... When I push the buttons to unlock the re compartments.. It will reset the stereo. Also turning on my tower lights or bilge or ballast pumps or nav light causes dramatic voltage drop...

This boat has a 100 amp alternator.. My crumby ford escape can run every accsessory without and voltage drop and my friends x-10 has no problems... Why does my boat have trouble supplying current thats not even that demanding?

My first guess would be a bad ground.

Ok so then I am hearing its not normal to have this happen, and second off how should I go about finding the bad ground and making it better

I have heard of this before. I believe Wakejunky had to run bigger power and ground wires from the battery to the main control buss to eliminate the issues in his boat.

Why would the stock wiring on a 90k CAD boat not be thick enough to handle the load?

clean all battery connections first!
then find the grounding black and look

Thats easy, corrosion at connections, will rise the resitance of the connections and so of the wiring.
Resistance should be as it is original zero ohm. Corrosion surrly giving it a push from zero.

IMO - Correct Craft builds the best hull in the business, electrical/plumbing - not so much

I would much rather fix minor electrical and plumbing issues, I don't want problems with the hull.

Here here!!! I agree... it's better to have a solid foundation, you can fix the rest later. Ideally it wouldn't be that way, but if I had to choose... Anyway, I'm having a similar issue with my 1989 SN 2001, when i turn on the Nav lights it makes the gauges go crazy, so I'm trying to hunt down a bad ground, but if I figure something out I will let you know.
