Brand of Prop Puller to buy?

I need to buy a prop puller. What brand should I buy? Acme, OJ, ARE?

I'm looking at the ACME. Can anyone confirm the rotating disc on the bolt has the machined pimple on it to stay centered on the boat's shaft?

Also, does the soft ACME travel bag provide enough protection for the prop?

I use the Acme prop kit. The puller works great. The bag is flimsy and will need some padding to protect the spare prop. It sits in the storage though, so there is little chance of damaging your spare.

Does the impact get 'er done so fast you don't have to block the prop? Or do you still have to block the prop somehow.

but watch out they will pop out at u

I didn't think you would have to block it....but why not leave the prop nut on a bit to keep the prop from popping out? Does the impact bind the prop up against the nut before you can let off the trigger?

i take the nut off with impact
then use the tool

we have also bent some tools, lol

I understand the "time is money" concept but an impact seems like extreme overkill.

For those of you not making money working on boats, snug the puller up by hand (both wrench and holding the prop, no block) then tap the back (bow side) with either the wrench you just used to loosen (not take off) the nut or a small hammer and it should pop right loose. The tighter you make the puller the more it bends and puts a side load on the hub, making it MORE difficult to remove.

i use a cordless impact, mine is a mac, but harbor freight has them for like 29.99
