    Speedometers

I have a 1994 Ski Nautique. Great boat, but I've had some problems with the speedometers. Seems like the needle on one moves faster/slower than the other. I have them pretty much calibrated together at 20 mph, but one is at least 5mph faster OR slower at other speeds. Sometimes one just sits on zero until the other reaches 20mph, then it jumps up.

My Nautique dealer says the sensors (pitots) may be gummed up, and I should try to clean them out. Has anybody ever done this? Am I going to break anything trying to clean them?

You won't break them by cleaning them out. Disconnect the tube from the back of the speedos and run some compressed air through each one.

Its common for one tube to become temporarily blocked, pluged. If you're underway, read the higher speedo. When you stop, backup to clear the pickup.

I have this same problem all the time. What happens is that debris from the lake gets caught up in the actual sensors. A portable quick fix is this: take a paperclip, bend it straight and just run it through the sensor. You can do this when the boat is on the trailer of when it is in the water. that is waht makes it so convenient.
