I have an '89 Martinique that I am looking to install an electronic ignition into. I have already bought a Mallory E-spark kit for it. I understand most of the installation however it says that it is necessary to have a ballast resistor in place or the module will eventually stop working. I looked around but I could not find a ballast resistor. But I know that some cars used a resistance wire. So is there anyway to test if there is a resistor in place? I would think there would be since it is a points style ignition right now. What I did test was the voltage at the coil. It was about 12v at the positive side and about 10v at the negative side. Does this mean that there is some type of resistor in place? Thanks for all the help. -James
