    throttle adjustment 08 SN 196

does anyone know how to adjust the throttle on the 08 SN 196. My throttle has to advance quite a ways in order to bring up the rpms and the boat speed.

RE: throttle adjustment 08 SN 196

Is your boat a throttle by wire system? I mean, does it have a physical cable, or is there just a sensor on the throttle handle that actuates a servo on the motor?

sorry didn't see the rest of your question. There is a cable that actually goes to the engine. once at the engine it sends a signal to the throttle unit to tell it how much throttle to give. Kind of weird that there is an cable but it is definitly there.

              Pre-Delivery Inspection

The dealer checks out the boat when it arrives and makes sure everything is as ordered and working properly.

Did you notice when you came of the throttle that it cut the rpms very quickly with only a little movement back. My old 2002 SN 196 had a smooth throttle. As soon as I advance the throttle I had power and the same as I came off the power. Now I have to advance the throttle a lot further to get the same power and as I back off I find that there is a point were the power is cut dramatically. Basically it is not a smooth transition. Does that make sense?

What your saying makes since, your dealing more with a chip that says X amount of movement of throttle = Y amount of rpms, all the factors were based on what PCM felt necessary. I drive on a ski lake in the course 99% of the time. We decelerate quickley at the end so I have really not noticed. The first time I came into the dock and put it in reverse and forgot to move the throtle back that extra amount was interesting.

I think I am beginning to like my older boat where there is a cable physically attached to the plate that opens the hole in the intake system that lets air into the engine.
No computer interpreting what I meant or wanted when I moved the throttle handle.
Did you know that 08 GM vehicles with Onstar can be throttled by somebody at Onstar headquarters?

I agree that I like the feel of the older throttle by cable but the way perfect pass works with TBW is so much better. I haven't change to Zero Off

Hopefully the dealer can get it tuned a little closer to my old throttle. I accept that there will be some difference, but it sure isn't fun to exit the course and start decelerating and have the boat slow dramatically. It's not fun for the skier either.
