2007 Throttle Shift Sticking

My driver's shift lever is fine going in reverse, or going forward or reverse with the neutral button pushed in. But when I go to put the boat in gear forward it is VERY HARD initially to move forward and then back. Like REALLY HARD. Never used to be this way! Any ideas? It is TBW.
