    That makes sense, I guess I originally thought that too much fuel in the cylinder would cause compression loss only when there was too much fuel, meaning it wasn't doing any permanent damage to the rings.

      the extra fuel washed all of the oil of the cylinder wall causing the rings to ride directly against the metal and the metal to metal contact trashed the rings creating lower compression in that cyclinder so just run it until it pucks then rebuild. That's what happened to my buddies fresh rebuild and he didn't catch the extra fuel pressure causing his problem until the damage was already done and he's rebuilding it again this winter like he did last winter, not a happy camper by any means. I've also seen where the piston shrinks for some reason and creates a knock as well, you'll have to ask rob about that it happen on his a couple summners ago at green lake reunion.
