Engine hours gone on new gauges

We replaced the old digital gauges on a 2002 196 with the new analog ones. Is there any way to get the engine hours correct again?

wtr, Do you still have the old digital gauge? Does it still have the hours on it? I'd just keep it and if you were ever selling the boat show it to the potential buyer. Start over on the new gauge.

yeah we have the old gauges. but i thought the ecm kept track of the hours and not the tach. is that just on newer boats?

What gauges did you use as replacements? I have those digital gauges which have been replaced once and the speedo is starting to go bad. Post some pics if you don't mind.

Isn't there a way to hook the new guages up to a 12v source in order to run the hours up to what you need? I believe that Mikeski mentioned this one time.

yeah. ill post some pics next time i go out. and i dont remember seeing the 12v lead. but ill have to look that up. do you know where mikeski talked about that?

Which engine is in your boat? If it is a Ford, the ECM does not keep track of the hours. If it is a GM, the ECM will have a record of the hours.

its the excalibur 330. so its GM.

You're in luck. The dealer will always be able to read the correct hours from the engine computer then.

Looks pretty good. I was looking on the faria website and was trying to determine what style that is. Is it the "Chesapeake Black SS"? I also saw someone replace theirs with Teleflex, which has a different look at night (red backlight). What do these look like at night? Thanks for posting the pics.

i believe they are the faria Coral series

The faria guages look like crap with my existing guages. I just did mine with the teleflex and they look 100times better. I know the teleflex tach guage with hour meter, will add hours with a 12V power source.
