    Voltaqe for PCM GT40

I have a 2000 Ski Nautique with 351 pcm gt40 engine. I am having some gauge problems so I checked my voltage. When the engine is not running I am at the normal 12v but when the engine is in operation the volts I get at the battery and the alternator is 30.7v. Is this normal or do I have a problem with the voltage regulator?

Thanks in advance for the help

are you sure its 30.7 v?! it should be at about 14.5 with the boat running.

I don't see how it could be 30 even if the regulator pegged out.

Maybe you meant to type 13.7

I think the spec is 13.6 to 14.4 ...but that is from memory....should be close though.

Is you voltmeter set to DC?

          Voltage set to DC

I had realized i had my volt meter set to AC and made the change as someone suggeted. I am still getting a reading that is 15.6v so I had the alternator bench tested and it was the same. Is this too high? The volt meter on the dash is pegged at 16.
