starter ? for SAN

i have a 2001 SAN Vdrive. today when i went to crank the boat i heard a clicking moise when i hit the start button. . so i knocked the starter w/ a hammer gently and it started. when i got home i started the boat 4x in a row w/ no problem. the starter has always kinda dragged in this boat since ive owned it for the past year.

do yall think i need to replace the starter? could it be the sylonoid? how muchis a new starter from CC?

My second to last choice for a started would be CC just because I feel it would be expensive. My first choice of where not to get one is one of the large newer atomotive chain stores like Autozone. I've seen too many people end up with wrong rotation and non marine starters from places like that. Napa is good because they have been aroud for ages and do hire people that do know what they are looking at! If you have a auto electric shop that deals with alternators and starters in the area then I would take the starter to them to check it out. Napa can too but you will end up with a specialist at the auto electric shop very tuned into starters.
