    engine problems

I have a 1998 GT-40. It's the beging of the season and its not running right. I started it up for the first time and it started up right away but about 10-15seconds later it began running rough. The battery was low. So we pulled the plugs and the plugs on the drivers side looked wet with gas. So I cleaned the plugs up and charged the battery fully. When we put it back in the water it still ran rough but we ran it longer this time. Just like the first time it ran rough but would have small spurts where it seemed to be hitting on all eight. The boat would go about 27-32mph at full throttle depending whether or not if was running rough or not. Went I was plained off the engine temp would drop to 140 or so, but when I was at an idle it would heat up. The engine also sounded a little smoother in nuetral. So we pulled it out again and pulled the plugs. All the plugs on the drivers side were black and has a black powdery sut on them. The plugs on the other side looked good. Does anybody have any ideas?
