Backseat removal DD ('01 Sport or Air)????

I know this is probably easy to do, but I just can't seem to figure out how to remove the backseat cushions (both bench and backrest). I am trying to inspect my fuel tank from all sides to investigate a persistent fuel smell. I have found and released a rubber "lock-type" attachment at the bottom of the seat near the floor on both sides, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Any help is appreciated, :???:

    Thanks!

    RE: Backseat removal DD (

First remove the back rest (it just pulls staight up). then take the center cusion off and you will see 2 pins to pull out and that should be it along with the 2 rubber locks-type.

The rubber straps are attached on the sides of the seat. On mine the back rest comes out easy, the seat bottom is a struggle - has to be twisted just right does not see like there is enough room, but it comes out.

Hey there. Resurrecting an ancient thread but figured I'd start here. Just took ownership of a new-to-me 2001 Sport Nautique in overall great shape. The rear bench is missing the pins to hold it in place so it slides around a bit. While I'm tracking down some pins, I was trying to use the rubber straps to secure the seat at least a little bit, but I can't for the life of me figure out how they are supposed to attach to the boat. There are two struts on each side that run from floor to underside of the gunwale (or thereabouts). Each strut has a plastic pin on it that clearly is supposed to mate to a hole in the rubber strap. But the straps are either way too short to reach around the strut and catch the pin, or way too long to secure anything if you try to mate them without wrapping the straps around the struts. I must be missing something...or the strap rubber is too old to stretch as much as originally intended? Or the pins were installed on the wrong side of the struts? The pins are currently facing the interior of the boat. If they were on the outside, the strap could maybe wrap around the back of the strut and mate to the pin and apply some backward pressure on the seat bottom to keep it in place. Some not-great pics attached. It's a minor item but the seat slides forward half the time someone steps on it to go over the back which is annoying. Appreciate any suggestions! Thanks in advance.
