The bow light is out on my 99 Ski Nautique. I have taken off the chrome cover, but can not get the red/green plastic dome off to replace bulb. Any advice, pictures, and/or tips would be appreciated.
i couldn't figure mine out, so i bought another one. If I remember correctly when I unscrewed the old one from the deck, it came apart and i felt like an idiot for buying the new one. you might have to take it all the way off... not sure.
If it is like my 97 the red/green is one plastic half sphere piece. After the chrome piece is off push down and turn the plastic piece abaout a quarter turn counter clockwise. it should then lift off and you can get to the bulb. I can take some pics, if you can't get it repost here and let me know you'd like some pics.
On a side note, are there marine festoon bulbs for this application? I used a car bulb from a car autoparts store and it blew the day I put in in. (It was the night of the fourth and the front Nav light got a lot of immersions on the way back to the launch after the fireworks show) So I've replaced this light twice in one day recently.
i just replaced mine on my '98 air and the socket for the festoon bullb specs at 8 watts and the only one i could find at any parts place including westmarine was 10 watts so i used that size. auskier is right, a quarter counter clockwise turn on the plastic dome and it came right off....along with the broken o ring which i replaced with an 1 7/8" diameter i found at a local hardware store. probably why the lamp blew in the first place. now with what auskier said im not sure if the bulb going to blow since its a ten watt, or a fuse or just the o ring like i thought.
