Red light on dash stays on?

The red light in the dash that says do not operate if light stays on over 1200 rpm does not go off when the rpms go over 1200. Took boat to dealer and they checked engine and transmission and said everything was fine. Anyone who what would casue that light to stay on?

Why didn't you have them fix the issue with the light if they spent all that time going over the engine and trans? I'm not sure what boat you have but those lights are using electrical resistance being sent from a sensor, probably oil pressure in your case. You might have a bad sensor which is not a tough fix but you want t make sure that is the issue and that is not actually your oil pressure.
How 'bout a little reverse action...

Lakejoe, assume you have a V-drive boat? Check the oil level in the V-drive gearbox and the quality of the oil, if its ok, its more that likely your sensor on the gearbox. Remember you have two gearboxes on a V-drive boat?? Hope this helps

It is an 04 SV211. The dealer was supposed to fix it. Got it back and it is still doing the same thing. Dealer changed V drive oil. Seems to stay on after boat warms up. Is the sensor that sends the signal reading only from v drive unit?

It is on my V Drive, but not sure on the SV211, did't know they made 211 in 2004 I thought they were 2005 boats. Sure someone will be able to help you out.

When this happened to me, low vdrive fluid was the culprit. As they've filled your VDrive, I would think sensor. BKH

Lakejoe, mine does the same thing, only when it gets hot. It will stay on for a while then it will go off. I have a small leak in my v drive so I check it every day and fill if I need to. I noticed the light started to come on about the same time I noticed the leak so I topped it off with oil and I figured that would eliminate if it was a sensor but even with the oil full, when it gets hot it will flicker on and off. Sounds like we have a similar problem.
