    Retractable Navigation Light Help!

I have the retractable stern light, the plastic light has come loose and only works in one position. Everything else works good. Dealer says no problem, order you a new complete unit $800 bucks! Has anyone fixed theirs? 2002 Sante

    RE: Retractable Navigation Light Help!

I would ditch it and go with on your tower. They stopped using them because the tower blocks the light some from the right angle and the coast guard/inland water police do not like that. I believe that all boats with a tower now will have one mounted on the tower.

I have heard that could be an issue, but it is a nice feature and I would hate to just disable it, is there any nice looking tower mounted nav lights ?

I've kicked around the idea of putting one on my 03 SANTE and I noticed that Monster Tower sells one. At $35, the price is right.

My telescopic negvigation light on my 01SAN ran bad a couple years ago, like you,I prefer this feature, other boat don't have, the problems is it don't retract or push up to normal position and louder gear noise heard, after upset some time,I took it out and disasemble it carefully,I found some thing break,(sorry since long time ago I can't remember exactly what break),quite likely the nylon string (white color) that has gears, for push the light up and retract down, break at the begining, I cut it shorter and fix it again to the wheel by some way,I got fix it,use until now, still good function, since I cut the string shorter,it has a advantage that less chance to obstract the wakeboaed string.

My problem is at the light end, I can push the light down and it works, barely, has anybody taken this apart, I think if I can solder the connections I would be good to go, I have about 3/4" play where I can lift the light up and down with no apparent way to remove it, it looks light the socket housing may have been slid over the end and then the socket glued in? I don't want to destroy it by pulling to hard. I think the wires have just come off at the end?

$169 is OK for replacing the bad one,and it adept LED that gives higher reliablity and drain less power,I'll get next time when my one go bad again.
