    Oil Change in 236

In my manual it says to change the engine oil while the engine is warm. This is my first boat that isn't an I/O, and I can't find out how to run the engine with the boat out of the water. Is there some type of device where I run water through the water intake (like the earmuffs that go on the lower unit of an I/O)?

    Also, any specific oil recommendations?

    Thanks, Bill

Here are just a few links. There are more if you search for flush, winterize, running engine out of water. etc.

Read them all from the top down and decide for yourself. I live close to the lake so I just run it hard and the engine is still plenty hot when I get home. Probably hotter than you can get it in the driveway with no load.

Does your boat not have a fresh water flush connection on the starboard side transom? I was not sure if that was option on the 236 or not. Anyway if you have on hook up your hose to it, turn it on full blast and then start your engine to warm up. Reverse the process when yur done.
