Timing issues?

who knows what the timing should be for a 454 PCM out of a 89 barefoot. i just rebuilt the motor and need to retime it. in the manuals it says AV 3* and MV 7* BTDC but what the **** does AV & MV stand for? Also i know timing it at higher RPMs is better, but how do i know what rpms and what to set the timing gun at. I have one that you can adjust the degrees on the gun. thanks.

av is the spec to use for your engine because it is for a 330 hp bigblock and the mv is for a 385 hp big block. But check your timing at 3600 rpm with a dial back timing light or a timing tape on the balancer and check to see if you are acheving 36 degrees btc.
