No Dash Lights on 03 206 AIR

When I put on the anchor light or bow / anchor light mode, the backlights on the dash gauges do not light up. The ballast gauges light up properly... I know the dash gauges are part of the serial bus, but are the ballast gauges?

I called Correct Craft and they believe it is a problem with the gateway box (CPU) and that it would have to be replaced. The boat is still under warranty, but I regret having the gateway replaced again. Last time, I lost air and water temp option but gained depth finder at startup instead of having to menu to it... I'm concerned what I will get this time.

Also, I asked for a true service manual. None available...the only documentation is the interconnect diagrams that are on this website.

Any ideas?

Another surprise is that the new keypad energizes with the bildge pump on.

Which is fine if you didn't just convert one of the pumps to manual...not automatic.

Are you sure you just don't have them dimmed all the way down? Try hitting the up arrow on one gauge or the other with the lights on and see if they don't come back on.

Hey Jeff, thanks for the reply. I did try this...per the instruction manual, you use the Tach arrows to control the backlight intensity. This did not help. I did speak with Ted from Faria today and he said to try the arrows as well. I also spoke with Ted about the loss of the water and air temp. He said there was a change in the ground connections for the temp sensors. We discussed the situation, now I have to check. However with the light problem, I'm leaning towards another gateway box.

I'm a bit frustrated with the lack of a service manual from CC. As technical as the new boats are, the owners should have access to full wiring diagrams and component locations for each year / model. How do the dealers deal with problems such as mine... As an electronic engineer / technician for a living, no service manual is extrememly frustrating. Not to mention tracking down the problems.

Here's the dash wiring for the V-Drives of your boat's era. I bet the Direct Drives are similar, but I do not have the diagram for them. Maybe this will be of some help.

Thanks again Jeff. I can see the connections for the Illumination control and the air / water sensors for the Gateway. They match what Faria provided, except the ground change on P2 they informed me about today.. I am going to have to pull the gateway and investigate further.

It would be nice if the schematic pointed to locations of the various multipin connectors...
