    Heater core hose connections

While I'm waiting for my replacement heater core to arrive, is it OK to connect the two red hoses together? I'd rather do that than start messing with the connectioins at the engine, but I wanted to make sure I didn't inadvertently damage something. Thanks for your help.

You should be fine. It's no different from having the heater core there.

Perfectly fine - when the core goes bad many owners opt for connecting the hoses rather than the expense of a new core which will need to be replaced every couple of years.

          RE: Thanks

I've been running with my hoses connected this way for quite some time now. Another question: Does it matter which hose goes into each port on the heater core? Now that mine have been off for a while and just connected together, I'm not sure which hose goes where.
