Window cleaning? How to remove hard water stains?

A week of summertime operations in a hard water lake has left major lime stains on my glass. Repeated splashing and quick drying has left spots I can't remove with average window cleaner and/or elbow grease.

I know it will probably take a mild chemical/acid or abrasive to remove them. I'd like to start with something mild what won't damage any coating that might be on the glass or damage the trim.

Any recommendations? Vinegar? Simple Green? CLR? Orange juice?

Try a solution of vinegar & water (50/50) I have found this to work well.
    Best of luck.

I'm not sure what the CC manual says about it, but with my old MC, the manual said that window cleaners would degrade the quality of the top coat on the safety glass. Vinegar/water would probably be a good bet. You could also put some distilled water in a spray bottle and put on a hefty coating and wipe dry with a soft cloth.

Agree with all of the above.

Found the answer on the Taylor site. I think I'll get a sponge and carefully rub with vinegar with the right hand and be ready to flush with lots of warm water with the left hand. The water will dilute the vinegar more as it runs down the gunnels and the warm water will help dissolve the minerals. I don't want to mess up the finish on the window frames.

          Glass
Use commercially available glass cleaners or a mixture of fresh water and vinegar. Do not use abrasives, harsh chemicals, or metal scrapers. Regular cleaning will help assure clarity of the glass for safe boating.

water and vinegar wont hurt anything---

simple green wont work on water spots---but im not sure why someone say to avoid it---1 inch of green mixed in a spray bottle of water will clean almost anything and not hurt anything

you can use a solvent based liquid wax to remove water spots also----
