    RE: keyless keypad problem

richard, I had problems with a keyless keypad. The best way to describe the symptoms is that the keypad buttons do not work or work inconsistently. Sometimes the keypad would show power (the green light) and sometimes it would not. It is probable more than one button is affected since the cause is moisture in the keypad.

I suspect the keypad internal moisture also and thinking have a surgery for it to see if something wrong inside, and want some experience advise before the surgery since I don't expect a wrong cut, jasper, how do you do for your key pad issue?

I purchased a new keypad and replaced it. It is easy to replace, but the keypad was expensive. Since I did not cut my keypad open, I can not give you advice on doing that. It would have been interesting to cut open to see how the keypad was constructed.

            Richard,

I had the same problem with my keypad. I would get the faint green light, but could not get anything else to work. At first it happened once in awhile and then got worse and worse until it just died altogether. I ended up replacing the keypad. It cost me about $550 from west coast correct craft. It took me all of five minutes to swap out the old one for the new one. That solved all of my problems. I have heard that it was somewhat common for the keypads in the 00-01 to go out.

I purchased a new keypad from a local dealer. You might check White Lake Marine - they advertise on PlanetNautique. I don't know about shipping it overseas, but they might. The cost from the dealer was about $600 USD. Hopefully you will be successful with a little surgery on your keypad.

                      kepad disasemble

The start keypad still can use for some time , notice the '4' bad contact becomes worse recently, take it out and disasemble for inspection, found that is a PCB have IC on it , ,button side is clean looks not bad contact there, water oxidesing can be seen at the edge of parts side, means its not serviceable since this side are sealed with epoxy. some water goning from the sealed edge into inside of PCB and corrode the circuit, the photo shows a clean botton side. ' need more try to fix the '4' problem.

Richard, thanks for posting the pictures and for the report back that it works. Congratulations on a successful surgery. Hopefully the repair will last and you can avoid the cost of a new one. You might have given future holders of bad keypads hope for a more economical fix.
