    leaky ballast in 2005 SV-211

A friend has this boat and believes he has a leak somewhere in the starboard side or front part of his stock ballast system. He also says that the starboard tank will not fully close so it fills itself up when not switched on to do so. he is not the most mechanically inclined guy I know, so most of the questions I have posed, I get the blank stare.
I need to go and look at it for him at some point soon. Anyone run into something like this or have any advice ?

    thanks

Just notice you have see that thread before.

The issue is the flo-rite valves. They have a rubber flap that covers a port to stop the flow. At speed the scoop under the boat builds pressure and pushes the flap open and water into the tanks. There is a factory service bulletin to change the flo-rite valves to TH valves. I had that done, then re-installed the TH-valves again as they were very stiff, then finally ditched the whole valve thing and replaced the fill pumps with impellers pumps so the valves are no longer needed.

I went and looked last Friday. I believe the biggest two problems are the port side petcock valve is shot, and the port side ballast valve knob is broken off in the cockpit. This was a FL boat for a short time, and I think it was run in salt water and the orig owner did not rinse out the bilge after taking on water. He really needs to just do what you and I did and put in the impeller system.
I just now saw your final posts on the above linked thread. Nice job, dude.

Update... I now have about 20 hours on my impeller fill/aerator drain pump system, working like a charml.
