Just thought I would give you people who do your own service a heads up, there is a misprint in the 2003 owners manual regarding oil type for the Walters "V" Drive unit.
The manual on page 26 says use Dexron III Automatic Transmission Fluid ATF or equivalent.
I recieved an email from John Givens at Correct Craft saying it was a misprint and you should be using SAE 30 weight oil.
Here is the email from John Givens at Correct Craft Customer Service......and the scan from the 2004 corrected manual that he sent.
I apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing, I spoke with PCM this morning and they said that was a mistake in the owner’s manual mentioning to use DEX III
for the Walters Drive unit, it should have said to use SAE 30 motor oil. I scanned the page in the 2004 owner’s manual and this is the correct information. PCM said everything else was ok with your manual other than the correct fluid to use in Walters Drive unit. Again sorry for the inconvenience, please email back if you have any further questions.
