    gt 40 headache!

    fyi
    2001 san
recently had the no start, just turns over symptoms. So bought the two relays for the fuel system, ecu etc? 40psi at the schrader valve on the fcc etc.
still no start, just turns over.
bought a new cap and rotor, still no start just turns over.
wired the safty lanyard terminals together/bypass, still no start.
pulled a plug wire, tried to start, no spark!
so, what could be causing no spark? Bad coil? cant test since its a computer coil, either it works or doesnt.

six pack of beer to the one who figures out the problem, of course you will have to be over 21 years of age... Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

Download the GT-40 service manual, from this site. It has electrical diagrams.
Check for 12 V power getting to your coil. if not, check for power getting to pin 30 of both relays mounted on the back of the engine.

Since you mentioned free beer, I'll just throw this against the wall and see if it sticks.

My keyed ignition had come loose, so I pulled the dashboard out to tighten the snug nut behind the dash. The next week, the boat would turn over, but wouldn't start. After pulling my hair out for a day, I remembered the last best configuration, i.e., before I mesed with the ignition. Pulled the dash pod off and whatayaknow, I'd pulled a little yellow wire loose from the back of the ignition. Turn of the screw and not a hiccup since.

              Good luck!

Mike, Have you checked for power at both relays, and at the Ignition coil?

broken distributer? pop the cap off and see if the rotor is spinning when you turn the motor over. I have seen a couple of distributers break the little pin that holds the gear on. easy thing to rule out.
