    Problems w/ Belt Breaking

I have a 2007 Super Air Nauitque 210 TE and The belt has broke 6 times since I had it. I got it October 07 and I only have 120 hrs on it. I dont understand why this keeps happening it is very frustrating. They say the pulleys are rusting but i am getting them sanded down and repainted since i do run it in salt water. I got a new tensioner pulley please help or Im thinking of selling the boat and get the MC because they make saltwater addition. I take care of this boat very well.

    RE: Problems w/ Belt Breaking

Check the alignment of the pullies if one os out by 1/8inch it may be pinching the belt and causing failure. Also check that everything thast is driven is freewheeling If one of the accessories is binding it will wer the belt.

MC saltwater edition boats: As soon the as the ballast gauges hit salt water they dont work.

Did you take it to the dealer?

        belt

I am going to bring the boat to see if the pulley is out aligned. I have take to the dealer n keep paying I just don't understand if anyone lives by Naples fl I'll be willing to pay for someone to fix it. I just to wakeboard n this is frustrating on a new boat.

          RE: belt

Paying for it? Warrenty should be covering this I would think. There are plenty of boats running on salt water and I haven't heard anything like this.

I agree to check alignment and if the pullies are spinning freely. Also, might want to check belt tension. If it is too tight you will definately see issues with breakage. There are gauges made to check this. What brand of belts are they using? If it's some cheap brand, try going a different route like Goodyear.

Just because the tensioner was replaced doesn't mean it's not still too tight. Like I said, they make tools to test the belt tension. If your dealer hasn't already done this... demand they do!

                    Belt breaking

There are a bunch of things you need to check out:

Firstly as has been mentioned already, pulley alignment

Check that the pulleys are the not damaged in terms of sharp edges that may be cutting the belt

Have you checked that the pulleys are the correct ones fitted, width, depth, belt to pulley contact surface area, maybe someone did a fix at some point in time and you have the wrong thing installed (I noticed it on a car one day)

Check that you don't have the belt rubbing up against something else on the motor which might be damaging the belt.

Check all the pulleys for possible damaged bearings/bushes which can cause alignment probs.

I'd be interested to know when you discover the prob.

There should be no need to be changing to SS pulleys.

This thread is from 2008, but i will try to help, did you check to see if your alternator or impellar pump is seized or has bad bearings in them you should check those first before you replace the belt again.

Had this happen on my gt40 last year. My pulleys were rusting causing it to rip my belt. Cleaned the pulleys and been ok since
