    Removing the tower

I have a super air nautique... a 2002 i believe. I noticed that the weld on one of the tower legs was breaking. Instead of towing my boat into the nearest Welding shop, i figured i'd remove the tower and take the piece in.

I removed the upper part of the tower fine, but the part of the tower that is screwed into the boat, i can't get off. The screws don't screw, they just turn and turn. Are they lock screws? How do i get the tower off, if that is possible.

    Thanks

You need to put a wrench on the nut side (to hold it) and it'll come right off. You'll need a friend to help you, especially on the front legs.

on the front legs you have to reach uder the front seats to get to the nuts. in the back you can reach under the gunnel rail. I had mine do the same thing on my 00. rememer not to close the gap that is left before you weld it. it probably broke because it was factory welded in a bind and it finally gave out. i had the welder weld it as it sat after the original weld tore and it never broke again. remember this is aluminum and needs to be done by a skilled pro welder.
