Mine went down there too two weeks ago...poor design....Tried a magnet on a flexible stick and it didn't pick anything up since its stainless...I guess for those of you that haven't yet throw some loctite on yours before you drop your cap on the ground like the rest of us.

I don't see how dropping the gascap on the ground is a problem. At least you can retireve it. I gas my boat at the dock. That is where the problem would start.....

A problem for you ... but not for the marina. I was at Canyon Lake Marina one time and noticed a replacement cap for sale. I remember it to be 50 bucks. Maybe it was only 20...but still... you know what they say. "Location, Location, Location."

I wonder if local scuba clubs ever scour the bottom around marinas to pick up trinkets and artifacts.

Mine fell down there while I was in the process of replacing my chain. I was able to detach the filler tube, lower it to the floor and "empty" the screw out. If you filled fuel since it went down that's probably not an option. I'd find it highly unlikely the screw could really go anywhere it'd cause issues.
