Amp Questions

Hey... I have a couple of questions about amps (3 to be specific).

Question 1:
I am going to put 3 amps in my boat. The problem is I am not sure where they would all fit. I have a 2003 Super Air team and was looking for some advice on where to put them. Anyone else have 3, if so, where did you put them?

Question 2:
I would like to hook the 2 amps to a switch. Has anyone hooked them up to an available plug on the console (I would like to use the heater button, since I won't be installing a heater)?

Question 3:
I played with a temporary setup this weekend and had a problem with the amp cutting out from time to time (especially when I turn the gain up on the amp). I am not an amp expert but have heard this called "clipping". Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

first order.

buy a perko switch, three way type. 1, 2 , all , off
buy another battery, blue top optima is fine
wire the battery up to the switch, or change out the old on/off switch under the dash to accept the battery and wire.
Your clipping will be solved when you either start the boat or use both batteries in your driveway to test the amp etc.

I had the same problem when I had defcon 3 installed with my 4 channell kicker amp. it would cut out on me in my driveway, like at 22 or 24 max on the volume level. I was told by Jay at secc to add the second battery etc. and when adjusting the amp gains, alway have full power to the boat, either both batteries on or have the boat started in the water etc. I didnt believe him, since I had the speakers installed at there preffered stereo shop, and it still was clipping at the shop. Bought the second battery, perko switch etc. and can crank the stereo to 30 on the volume in the driveway etc. on the water its even louder, well I can crank it louder.

If I am running my stereo while detailing the boat in the driveway, I usually have the battery charger attached so it won't run the batt down. You might try that before deciding if it is a problem with the amp or just low voltage.
